Febuary 4th 2010
This week's column will be short and sweet. The explosion of social media into society has had many benefits for its users, namely that it allows instant communication with people all the way across the globe. This outweighs the downsides like having people invite you to useless and annoying applications on Facebook.
In the last few weeks however I have begun noticing an irritating trend has begun to develop. That is the new fad of posting "93% of people will not post this to their status. Be part of the 7%." I have seen this regarding government aid to Haiti (condemning it.....which even for a staunch nationalist like myself is repugnant), honoring Jesus (which is a good thing, but I have never been a fan of proselytizing my faith. Let others make their own choices), and paying homage to your mother/father/husband/wife/child, etc. (again nothing wrong with this, but don't you think they would rather just hear it from you personally??)
I'm not sure exactly what my point is for a change, just that this grinds my gears.
